Job Title: Director of Children's and Family Ministries

Requirements for Employment: 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Study emphasis on Christian Education teaching, counseling, psychology and/or theology is strongly preferred. Must be a professing Christian and have an understanding of, or a willingness to learn, Presbyterian/ Reformed theology.

EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL SKILLS:
Prior experience working with children, young adults and families is preferred.
Understands and is willing to be part of a team approach to ministry in our congregation.
Is guided and nurtured by Holy Scripture and a Reformed understanding of faith.
Relates and interacts well with children, youth and adults.
Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.
Maintains good organizational skills.
Able to effectively recruit and supervise Lay volunteers.
Skillful in leading Worship with children.
Skillful in selecting and utilizing curriculum for children, teaching and leading Sunday School.
Is a self-motivator and works well independently.

Job Description: 

The Director of Children’s and Family Ministries will work with CPC staff and members of the congregation to create, then lead a ministry for children and young adults with emphasis on the development of a life that reflects the likeness of Christ, values the life of fellowship and worship, and serves Christ in all walks of life.

This will involve organizing and determining resources for the Sunday School program, including Kid’s Church and the church nursery program, programs for young adults, and coordinating these efforts with those of Camp Wakonda. It will also require providing additional resources beyond Sunday morning for children, young adults and families that encourage faith formation and fellowship in partnership with the Director of Youth and Family Ministries, and maintaining the children’s library.

It will require attendance at staff meetings, the development of a Children’s and Family Ministries team, and the recruitment and training of volunteers to serve as teachers and fellowship leaders. One in this position shall develop relationships through personal contact with children and their families, attend children’s events in their schools and communities, and reach out to support children in the broader community. And it will involve assisting in worship, conducting children’s sermons, supplying worship resources to provide for increased children’s involvement in the services, and performing any other appropriate duties as assigned by the co-pastors.

Rate of pay and hours per week: The position is a salaried, full-time position with starting salary of $45,000 - $55,000, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package. Regular working hours are 40 hours per week including weekends, and hours may be flexed during the work week.
