Job Title: Appalachian Ohio Restore Corps

Requirements for Employment: 

Good communication and cooperation skills
Computer literacy and willingness to learn
Passion for the health of people and environment in Appalachian Ohio
Interest in climate mitigation and resilience work and serving Appalachian communities
Comfort with speaking and the ability to work with diverse groups of people, independently and in a team setting
Some ability to serve flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if needed
Some (but not all) positions require the ability to hike extended distances over rough terrain and the ability to carry up to 40 lb. of equipment
Access to transportation is needed
General knowledge of Appalachian Ohio culture is preferred
At least 17 years of age
Must be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States (45 CFR § 2522.200)
AmeriCorps members must not be listed on the National Sex Offender Registry or have a conviction of murder on their criminal records. Some host sites may have additional criminal history requirements.
Appalachian Ohio Restore Corps does not test for substance use as part of the application or enrollment process. However, some host sites may have additional drug testing requirements as part of their onboarding, after a member is selected.

Job Description: 

The Appalachian Ohio Restore Corps (AORC) mobilizes 70 AmeriCorps members to help educate youth and the public, restore, conserve, and preserve environmental resources, improve food distribution to people in poverty, support reduced waste and recycling initiatives, and support economic resilience through climate mitigation and sustainability projects.

Appalachian Ohio Restore Corps members serve a term of 12 months accumulating a total of 1,700 hours of community based service, an average service load of 35 hours a week. AORC runs August 26, 2024 to August 19, 2025.
