Job Title: Pantry Coordinator/Caseworker

Requirements for Employment: 

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associates degree or 3 years experience in Social Services preferred.
• Ability to multi-task, detail oriented skill set and ability to offer genuine compassionate care.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to schedule and perform designated responsibilities independently – self-motivate
• Ability to work well with others and be a team player.
• Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred.
• Possess a positive, teachable, “can do” attitude.
• Knowledge and competency in computer skills.
• Must be able to represent The Salvation Army’s Mission in all spheres of influence.
• Ability to perform all duties in compliance with The Salvation Army’s policies and regulations.
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License. Must clear Salvation Army Driving and Background Check.

Job Description: 

• As needed greet public, answer phones with compassion and understanding, and direct to the appropriate person.
• Maintain confidentiality in all matters.
• Assist in managing entrances to the Social Services Lobby, Pantries and Restrooms.
* Assist in maintaining and assisting in managing files; both hard copy and computer records of appointments (with accuracy and keeping regularly updated to meet TSA and Grant guidelines), services rendered, referrals made and correspondence. Computer work includes knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PantryTrak.
• Schedule client appointments, interview clients, maintain client files, updating information with each visit and assisting with services such as emergency food, utilities, rent/mortgage, and other basic human needs in conjunction with the Social Services Director.
• Assist with seasonal programs/events (ie; Back to School, Christmas, etc.)
• Maintain an inventory of food products, hygiene and cleaning supplies to be distributed through the pantry. Inform Corps Officers and Food Services Manager of items needed for Pantry clients.
• Ensure that food products received are dated, labeled and stored appropriately.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of Food Pantry, Coolers and Freezers. Taking and recording cleaning schedule and temperatures as required.
• Attend Social Services Department meetings, Corps Staff meetings, etc.
• Monitor and train Vantage Aging workers, Job and Family Services Work Experience Program workers, volunteers and interns assigned to the Food Pantry. Maintain timesheets and sign ins as applicable for Food Pantry.
• Maintain current ServSafe Certification and oversee food safety for the Food Pantry.
• Abide by all Akron Canton Regional Foodbank eligibility and requirements.
• Oversee the Weekenders program; including securing and scheduling volunteers to pack bags.
• Provide referrals to program participants within the Social Services Department, Corps and outside community agencies as needed.
• Inform Social Services Director/Corps Officers/Maintenance Supervisor of any safety/security concerns to be addressed.
• Maintain an updated Referral Guide for services provided by other community agencies.
• Perform all duties in compliance with TSA policies and regulations.
• Assist in receiving donations/food purchases from individuals, companies, Food Bank, etc.
• Other tasks/duties assigned by Social Services Director/Corps Officers.
