QUALITIES NECESSARY TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION:
• Willing to become an engaged member of MissionView church.
• Gifted and called to ministry, loves young people, and has a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.
• A bachelor’s degree in a related field of study is required.
• Experience in junior or senior high youth ministry is a plus.
• Exhibits a personal spiritual life congruent with biblical mandates for leaders (1 Timothy 3:1-7).
• Should always exhibit professionalism, demonstrated by a conscientious work ethic, willingness to learn new things, accountability, and confidentiality.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills accompanied by a positive attitude with young students in the church
• Ability to deal with and relate to young people by earning their respect and trust
• Thrives within a team environment; with the pastoral staff, the elders, church staff, administrative team and volunteers.
• Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision; flexible to changes in procedures and/or direction.
• Possesses qualities catalytic to student ministry; for example, has a sense of humor, energetic, and authentic.
• Possesses strong computer skills & familiarity with social media tools and their use for ministering to students.
• Lead staff efforts to maintain the student ministry social media presence i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
• Has basic experience working with AV, multimedia, tech and presentation software.
• Musical abilities in leading worship is preferred.
Job Description:
Purpose Statement:
To proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ by developing and executing a comprehensive program to teach biblical truths to the students in grades nine through twelve.
Reports to:
The Associate Pastor
RESPONSIBILITIES:
YOUTH PASTOR:
• Create and implement a curriculum plan for students in nine through twelfth grade.
• Be acquainted with the personal lives of the students in your ministry. For example, visit homes, attend school events, and make hospital visits. This also includes being aware of current youth development and culture.
• Foster open communication with parents/guardians.
• Oversee the recruiting, discipling, training, and motivating of adults to serve in youth ministry.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities for High School age youth that promote community through fellowship, fun and faith development.
• Coordinate with the Pastor of Middle School Ministries on events.
• Promote Christian service through age-appropriate service projects.
• Provide a timely and accurate schedule of Youth activities to the office staff.
• Keep the congregation informed of youth events by coordinating the publicity for youth activities through the appropriate vehicles provided by the church. (Monthly newsletter, special mailings, posters, bulletin announcements, web page, etc.)
• Maintain some regularly scheduled office hours to be accessible to youth, parents, staff, and the leadership of the congregation.
• Prepare an annual youth ministry budget proposal, and administer that budget as approved by the church elders.
• Carry out assigned duties in the pastoral care of the members of MissionView Church.
• Preach on Sunday mornings as assigned by lead pastor (up to 1-2 times per year after first six months).

Work Schedule:
40 hours-Salaried position. Regular office hours but flexible to meet with students.
