Required Education/Experience:
• Minimum of two (2) years within the past five (5) years in the independent practice of clinical social work in a mental health setting.
• Position requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status.
• Must have a Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain Secret Clearance.
• Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) or equivalent (MSSW, MSSA) degree from a graduate school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
• Maintain a current, unrestricted clinical license to independently practice social work in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
• Maintain credentialing requirements in good standing at a local MTF.
Mental Health Counselor
Education, Credentialing, Certification, Experience and Clearance requirements:
Master’s Degree in one of the behavioral sciences and able to meet Credentialing and Privileging standards.
LMFT Requirements must include one of the following:
- Master's or doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), or
- A qualifying graduate degree in an allied mental health field from a regionally accredited education institution in conjunction with a program of marriage and family therapy study that is equivalent to the COAMFTE standards as defined by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). Must possess a clinical membership credential issued by the AAMFT.
LPC/LMHC Requirements:
- Passed the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination (NCMHCE) or an examination determined by the Director, Defense Health Agency or designee as equal in scope, intent, and content to the NCMHCE.
- Master’s or higher-level degree from a mental health counseling program of education and training accredited for Mental Health Counseling or Clinical Mental Health Counseling by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs; and
- Post-master’s degree counseling practice qualifying for independent licensure. Two years of post-graduate experience in various modalities and skill to provide individual, group, couples, and family treatment/counseling.
