Job Description:
General Purpose
The volunteer & events coordinator recruits, trains and coordinates volunteers to deliver essential services that support IWC clients participating in IWC programs. This position will also be responsible for coordinating special events internally and in the community. The coordinator will work closely with the program coordinator and resettlement case manager to ensure volunteers are properly trained and services are properly delivered.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Networks and maintains meaningful connections with local universities, churches, community groups and others to recruit volunteers to fulfill the volunteer needs of the IWC
• Recruits, screens, trains, and supervises an appropriate number of volunteers that support the mission of the International Welcome Center
• Manages and facilitates the volunteer training program, including volunteer interest meetings
• Gathers information about each volunteer’s skills, availability, and goals; matches and schedules volunteers with appropriate opportunities based up on this data
• Regularly communicates with volunteers to ensure placement is a good fit for individuals’ skills and goals
• Maintains files, records, applications, and other data concerning volunteer program
• Plans and coordinates special events internally and in the community
• Other duties as assigned
Administrative Functions
• Maintain accurate files, records, applications, and other data concerning volunteer program
• Attend training as required by program director
• Attend training as required by national office
• Assist in program reporting as required by national office
• Participate in cross program meetings, as requested by the director
Education and Experience
• 1-2 years of experience in job-related field such as non-profit work or managing volunteer programs
• Experience working with and organizing volunteers
• Strong written and oral communication is required
• Ability to organize, efficiently document, and routinely update information in various databases
• Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and be insurable by insurance policies
• Must clear a background check
