Minimum Requirements:
-Be a born-again Christian with a growing and deepening Christian faith and a commitment to advancing the cause of Christ.
-Be an active and committed member within a local Bible-believing church, and a deep commitment to faithfully “tithe” of their time in the areas of Bible study, prayer, and evangelism.
-Agree wholeheartedly with and be willing to abide by Upward Bound Youth's Statement of Faith and Doctrinal Distinctives, Code of Conduct, and general workplace standards as outlined in the employee handbook.
-Be able to work in the US legally without sponsorship and have a valid driver’s license.
-Hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution.
-Exercise proficiency in the use of Google Drive/Workspace, web search engines, and other instructionally-related applications.
-Maintain excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) and demonstrate a collegial and upbuilding attitude towards all students and colleagues.
-Have a strong passion and commitment to excellence in teaching 18-30 year-old students in large and small class settings.
-Maintain a working knowledge of all ministry policies and procedures.
-Have the ability to plan and organize work.

Preferred Requirements:
-An undergraduate or master’s degree in Biblical Studies is preferred.
-Demonstrated teaching experience in a variety of venues (e.g., traditional classroom, field trips, church Bible studies, one-on-mentoring) is also preferred.
-Applicants should have a commitment to ongoing research and the development of useful learning resources in their field(s) of discipline

Job Description: 

Job Description
Provide instruction in assigned class(es) in accordance with applicable administrative policies and procedures, established instructional models, and course syllabus/syllabi as established by the Legacy Bible Institute. Implement appropriate strategies to assist students to achieve their spiritual, intellectual, and missional potential and provide superior student service. The ideal candidate would be “at home” in the English Bible (OT, NT, Biblical Theology) and basic systematic theology, and able to teach a variety of biblically-based topics. Candidates should be able to give clear and convincing testimony of their commitment to Christ, a life of obedience and growing maturity, a love for Christ-centered learning across various disciplines, and skill in teaching and ministering to students of diverse ages. The candidate should be excited to teach the riches of Christ’s gospel from within the doctrinal parameters of historic Anabaptism, and with the utmost respect for the Bible as God’s infallible and authoritative Word in all matters of faith and life.

As an employee of Upward Bound Youth that is deeply involved in Legacy’s learning community, the primary responsibilities for this position would be geared toward teaching 18-30 year-old students, but a commitment to UBY’s broader community outreach programs would also be necessary.

Work Environment/Conditions:
Legacy Bible Institute is a gap-year program designed for 18-30 year-olds, and is operated by Upward Bound Youth (UBY) in affiliation with the Apostolic Christian Church Foundation and the Wooster Bible Church. The Apostolic Christian Church is a small Christian denomination that started as a neo-Anabaptist revival movement in the 1800s. UBY broadly aims to “Teach Truth and Equip Youth” and has a variety of other ministries and programs that it is operating and expanding. Legacy aims to graduate obedient students of Scripture who are abiding and growing in Christ, and are equipped for lifelong learning and mission.

This job operates in an office/classroom environment located in Wooster, Ohio. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Additionally, UBY’s outreach programming can involve working with K-12 grade students in indoor and outdoor facilities and spaces. The position may require long periods of standing or sitting. The applicant should be able to lift 25 pounds and be able to assist in set-up or take-down for outreach events. Essential Functions:

Instruct students in assigned class(es).
-Manage classroom environment to create an effective learning environment.
-Facilitate students in achieving course objectives through interpersonal interactions in face-to-face settings, and (as needed) online learning platforms.
-Participate in required Legacy Bible Institute and Upward Bound Youth training and professional development programs and maintain expertise in subject area.
-Motivate students to actively participate in the educational process, including but not limited to class discussions, discussion threads, outside assignments, research, enrichment activities, etc.
-Respond promptly (within 24 hours) when returning telephone calls and replying to correspondence, emails, and instant messages.
-Grade student assignments within 1 week of submission.
-Maintain and enforce proper decorum, online and otherwise, to effect a positive learning environment.
-Collaborate with appropriate staff to produce learning experiences that will enhance student achievement.
-Participate in course review processes by recommending improvements in course design.
-Motivate students to persist in the program by monitoring student participation and contacting students who fall behind.
-Expectations also include ministry-wide service, committee work, and student mentoring.

Rate of pay and hours per week: Full time (40 hours) Salaried Position. Pay will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. However, being called to ministry means it is not a cushy job, so we go the extra mile to support you.
